A home camera used to mean a DVR, coax cable and an installer. Today a WiFi camera screws into a light socket or sits on a shelf, pairs with your phone in two minutes and sends a notification when something moves. The catch is that the listings all look alike. This guide explains the handful of specifications that actually separate them.

The V380 Pro app, and why it matters

Nearly every budget camera in Bangladesh pairs through the V380 Pro app. That is good news: one app runs every camera you own, the interface is familiar to any local technician, and the cameras are cheap because the platform is shared. It also means the brand name on the box matters less than the hardware inside, so read the specification rather than the label.

Lens count: one, two or three

  • Single lens — the classic PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) ball. It turns to follow movement but sees one view at a time.
  • Dual lens — one wide fixed lens plus one PTZ lens, shown side by side. You see the whole room and can zoom into a corner at the same time. The V380 dual-lens 2+2MP is the typical choice for a living room or shop floor.
  • Three lens — adds a second fixed lens for a wider sweep; useful on a gate or a wide courtyard, as on the V380 Pro 3-lens outdoor camera.

Bulb cameras: the no-wiring answer

A bulb camera such as the V380 Pro E27 360° screws into any ordinary E27 holder, takes its power from the socket and still works as a light. For a stairwell, a shop entrance or a rented flat where you cannot run cable, it is the easiest install there is. Keep the switch on; if someone flips the light off the camera goes off with it.

WiFi or 4G SIM?

If there is a router within reach, WiFi is simpler and free. For a village house, a farm or a construction site with no broadband, a 4G model like the SC05 4G + LAN PTZ camera takes a Grameenphone, Robi or Banglalink SIM and streams over mobile data. Budget for the data: continuous viewing uses several gigabytes a month, so rely on motion alerts and check in briefly.

Night vision: colour or infrared

Infrared gives a black-and-white picture in total darkness. "Full colour night vision" uses a small white LED that switches on when motion is detected — you get colour, and the light itself deters a prowler, but it is visible. For a bedroom corridor choose infrared; for a gate or yard the colour LED is better.

Storage: SD card first

Cloud plans cost money every month and depend on your upload speed. A 64 GB microSD card inside the camera stores a week or more of motion clips and keeps recording during an internet outage. Buy a card rated for continuous recording from the storage shelf; a cheap phone card wears out within months.

Placement that actually works

  1. Mount 2.2–2.5 metres high, angled down. Higher and faces become dots.
  2. Do not point at a window or a bright doorway; the camera exposes for the light and the person becomes a silhouette.
  3. Check WiFi signal at the spot with your phone before drilling. Two bars is the minimum for smooth video.
  4. For outdoor units, a small rain hood doubles the life of the lens cover.

Before you buy

Decide where it goes, whether there is a socket or a bulb holder within a metre, and whether you need the camera to turn. A fixed dual-lens unit covers a room; a PTZ covers a yard; a bulb covers a stairwell. All cameras on the security camera shelf ship cash on delivery across Bangladesh with a 7-day easy return on faults — set it up on the first evening so any problem is found inside the window.

Frequently asked questions

Do V380 cameras need a monthly subscription?

No. They record to a microSD card in the camera and stream to the V380 Pro app for free. Cloud storage is optional.

Can I watch the camera from outside Bangladesh?

Yes — once the camera is on the internet, the app shows it anywhere in the world. Family abroad often use this to check on parents.

Does a bulb camera work when the light switch is off?

No. It is powered by the socket, so leave the switch on; the light itself can be turned off inside the app.

Which camera for a village home without WiFi?

A 4G SIM model such as the SC05. It streams over mobile data; set it to motion alerts rather than live viewing to keep the data bill low.
